Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in cooking and food preparation
- Familiarity with standard kitchen equipment and safety procedures
- Ability to recognize and respond to dietary needs and emergencies
- Knowledge of infection control and universal precautions
- Ability to work various shifts including mornings, evenings and nights
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including standing for long periods
- Willingness to wear protective clothing when necessary
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and adhere to sanitation guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
Job Qualifications

- Previous experience in food preparation and kitchen operations
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

Job Duties
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing and in accordance with portion control procedures and therapeutic diets
- Review menus prior to food preparation and inspect special diet trays to assure accuracy
- Recognize and respond to dietary emergencies and report observations
- Follow established infection control and universal precaution policies when performing daily tasks
- Wear protective clothing and devices when handling infectious waste or bodily fluids
- Complete forms and reports to document dietary procedures
- Report accidents and incidents to supervisor immediately
- Participate in ongoing educational programs related to the job
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and facility business
- Report disrepair of dietary equipment
- Assume responsibility and accountability for the position
- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with policies and procedures
- Notify supervisor of pending absence or tardiness
- Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism and interest in residents’ preferences and needs
- Follow established smoking regulations and report violations
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed timely including logs and payroll forms
- Secure, clean and lock kitchen spaces on closing shifts
- Monitor kitchen personnel for compliance with protective clothing policies
- Supervise kitchen personnel to ensure meals meet quality and menu standards
- Order food and supplies within budget guidelines
- Schedule kitchen employees to ensure full coverage
- Assist in developing and implementing kitchen cleaning schedules
- Prepare and monitor daily food production sheets
- Supervise unpacking and storage of food supplies
- Report absenteeism, tardiness, grievances and complaints to supervisor
- Assist in inventorying and monitoring equipment and supplies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
