Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
- Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to follow dietary and therapeutic diet plans
- Physical capability to perform kitchen duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and other departments
- Availability to work part-time hours including weekends as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
- Knowledge of dietary needs and therapeutic diets in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting beneficial
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain food safety standards
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work part-time hours and flexibility with scheduling
Job Duties
- Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance and set up food trays
- Review menus prior to preparation of food
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
- Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus
- Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders
- Prepare and serve bedtime snacks
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the patient
- Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel as well as with other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents
- Be sure that appropriate equipment and utensils are provided with the resident's meal tray
- Review care plans to assure that current dietary information is consistent with foods served
- Prepare and serve substitute foods to patients who refuse foods served
- Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
- Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc., as necessary
