Job Duties

  • Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus
  • alters or adapts recipes to accommodate special dietary needs or improve recipes
  • ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving
  • coordinates and participates in serving food, including monitoring portion control
  • maintains accurate records of chargeable meals and submits them monthly
  • assists with menu planning, reviewing and adjusting menus with the Dietary Manager
  • assists in identifying food and supplies needed for weekly menus and reports to the Dietary Manager
  • prepares meats for storage and portion control upon delivery
  • ensures proper handling, storage and labeling of delivered foods and ingredients
  • maintains a clean, orderly, safe and sanitary kitchen environment
  • ensures compliance with regulations
  • assists in training other kitchen staff in food preparation
  • performs other duties as assigned
  • complies with policies and procedures and updates
