Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Accredited food handler certification within 60 days
- Six months to one year of proven cooking experience
- Experience using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking methods such as grilling, baking, boiling
- Ability to follow sanitation procedures
- Team player with good oral and written communication skills
- Physical stamina to perform kitchen duties
Job Qualifications

- Culinary school training is a plus
- Accredited food handler certification within 60 days as per state guidelines
- Six months to one year of proven experience as a cook
- Experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods including grilling, baking, boiling
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Team player with effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent physical condition and stamina
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes
- Adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions
- Monitor all food items for temperature, taste, and quality
- Use various utensils and grillers to cook food, stirring or turning as needed
- Dress dishes for a great presentation before serving
- Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly, ensuring all equipment is cleaned, working properly, and turned off before closing
- Store all food and items properly to maintain freshness and safety
- Check and ensure the quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock levels and place orders for shortages with supervisor's approval
- Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines, including governmental and company policies, and ensure proper documentation
- Assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff
- Maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene
- Attend all required in-service training sessions
- Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team
- Maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
