Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies
  • Certification for Food Safety and Handling preferred
  • Valid driver's license required upon hire if providing Home Care and Hospice services
  • Ability to perform medium work including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Associate's or vocational degree in the culinary field preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of food service experience preferred
  • Certification for Food Safety and Handling preferred
  • Valid driver's license required upon hire if providing Home Care and Hospice services

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner
  • Prepare food using standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and special functions
  • Ensure adequate quantities of food are prepared based on patient need and cafeteria volumes
  • Understand special diets and consult with dietitian as needed
  • Use proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety
  • Check temperatures regularly prior to serving food
  • Label, date, cover and store food properly
  • Utilize sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment
  • Assist in restocking work station
  • Assist in putting away grocery orders
  • Operate cash register
  • Assist with menu development
  • Maintain adequate food stock to meet menu requirements and patient requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned
