Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Accredited food handler certification within 60 days as per state guidelines
  • 6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook
  • Experience with cutting tools cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods including grilling baking boiling etc
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Team player with effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals including soups meats gravies vegetables desserts salads and baked goods from fresh canned dry or frozen states according to recipes
  • Adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions
  • Monitor all food items for temperature taste and quality taste food to ensure top-notch quality
  • Use various utensils and grillers to cook food stirring or turning as needed
  • Dress dishes for a great presentation before serving
  • Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly ensuring all equipment is cleaned working properly and turned off before closing
  • Store all food and items properly to maintain freshness and safety
  • Check and ensure the quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders for shortages with supervisor's approval
  • Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines including governmental and company policies and ensure proper documentation
  • Assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff
  • Maintain high standards of appearance cleanliness and personal hygiene
  • Attend all required in-service training sessions
  • Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team
  • Maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
