Job Requirements
- physical condition allowing for normal kitchen duties including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking entire shift
- ability to read and understand directions
- ability to show warmth, love and compassion toward residents
- dependability and punctuality
- comfort working in a Christian Retirement Center environment
- adherence to Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policies
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of food service sanitation course
- minimum one-year cooking experience in nursing home, institution or restaurant
- ability to communicate in English in a friendly manner
- knowledge of various therapeutic diets
- experience with meal preparation and portion control
Job Duties
- prepare and serve food by following standardized recipes and correct serving portions
- review menu spreadsheets and conform strictly to menu requirements
- monitor and record temperatures of food and cold storage units
- supervise food service staff in the absence of supervisors
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation of area and equipment
- coordinate transfer of meals to supportive care or between kitchens
- ensure appearance of food and garnishments meet standards
