Job Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to perform work without more than normal supervision
  • Ability to interpret instructions and specifications
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment
  • Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Willingness to work shift hours including early, late, and weekends
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical exam and annual examinations
  • Subject to background investigation and suitability determination
  • Required to wear provided uniform
  • May be required to work on call during irregular hours
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete Selective Service Registration
  • Proof of US citizenship required

Job Qualifications

  • Understanding technical cooking practices including precise and artistic techniques

  • Experience preparing and cooking simple menu items
  • Ability to operate and clean kitchen equipment following sanitation procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables
  • Prepare raw fruit and vegetable ingredients as well as completed salads, sandwiches and sandwich fillings
  • Prepare food by peeling, chopping, grinding, parting, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring or breading
  • Portion foods for distribution and meal service, and cover, date, and store leftovers according to established procedures
  • Mix ingredients according to precisely written recipes that produce quality products, minimize preparation time, and avoid food material waste
  • Weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for regular and modified menu items
