Job Requirements

  • One year experience as a cook in hotel, restaurant, hospital, or similar institution preferred
  • food handlers' card required or food safety certification where required by local ordinance
  • fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene
  • ability to tactfully communicate with co-workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
  • regular, predictable, and dependable attendance

Job Duties

  • Prepares food in accordance with standard menus and specifications
  • follows prescriptions and facility procedures
  • ensures proper storage of food and supplies
  • supervises serving of meals by wait staff
  • directs and assists in cleaning work areas, equipment, and floors
  • ensures all residents have received meals
  • ensures fire and safety practices and procedures are followed
