Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Culinary arts training or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Must meet all state health requirements
  • Obtain food handlers permit as required by state regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and community
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with other employees and vendors
  • Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary arts training or equivalent experience in culinary arts preferred
  • Effective communication skills with residents, families, staff, community officials, referral sources, and general public
  • Ability to relate positively to residents, families, coworkers and vendors
  • Knowledge of state health requirements
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Help food services director schedule staff
  • Assist in orienting new staff
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe and orderly
  • Strictly adhere to procedures regarding infection control, food-borne illness prevention, harmful chemical handling, fire, safety and sanitation
  • Ensure food is prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion, and presented attractively
  • Provide appropriate snacks for residents with special dietary needs
  • Ensure all utensils, dishes, equipment, and work areas are cleaned properly and promptly
  • Store food properly
  • Attend all required in-service training
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding residents' rights
