Job Requirements

  • Serv Safe Certification
  • working knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations in food preparation
  • knowledge of cooking times and temperatures
  • knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
  • ability to prepare food safely and in accordance with dietary guidelines
  • experience working with seniors and understanding of their dietary needs
  • ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work in hot and humid kitchen environments
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • good communication and teamwork skills
  • reliable attendance
  • ability to report injuries and incidents promptly

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items on Food & Beverage Director's daily menu for Residents within scheduled time frame
  • keeps food service areas clean
  • monitors inventory
  • supervises servers in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director
  • maintains clean, neat, and safe work environment
  • assures that Resident diets are being followed
  • assures employees and Resident guest meals are accounted for on a daily basis
  • reports to Food & Beverage Director any loss, breakage, or waste of supplies and equipment
  • observes and communicates any problems or potential problems in the dietary department
  • works with little or no supervision
  • cooks large quantities of food and delivers a superior product
  • guides and instructs others in food preparation and serving
  • maintains professional demeanor under stress
  • recognizes needs and helps others without prompting
  • relates well with employees and Residents
  • maintains highest standards for kitchen cleanliness
  • respects Resident rights and adheres to Community policy on Resident care
  • performs all other duties assigned by Food & Beverage Director
