Job Requirements

- Minimum age of 18 years
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, and other demanding tasks

- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation regulations

- No food service certification required but knowledge preferred

Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in food preparation according to menu, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
- Serve food during planned meal schedules following department policies and procedures
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
- Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean work environment including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Keep kitchen floors clean and manage garbage collection
- Ensure kitchen readiness for food preparation and serving including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
- Review proper portions and utensils for service
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
