Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other medical facility
  • Food handler's permit required
  • Ability to speak, understand, and write fluent English
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu while utilizing standardized recipes
  • Ensure that food prepared is of proper quantity and in accordance with established time schedules
  • Utilize correct portion control utensils during the preparation and duration of food service to ensure proper quantity
  • Check and maintain proper food temperatures during food preparation and services, recording those temperatures according to policy
  • Ensure an adequate supply of food and supplies are available at all times, reporting inadequate stock to the supervisor timely
