Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or related field or high school diploma with 2 years experience in cooking
  • Availability to work per diem shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to prepare food according to prescribed diet modifications
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to assist in meal planning and cost research

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or a related field
  • High school diploma with 2 years experience in short order or restaurant cooking
  • Each year of culinary school will be equivalent to 2 years of work experience
  • Ability to follow recipes and departmental standards
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Properly prepares food in accordance with departmental prep sheets and as directed by department leadership
  • Accurately prepares food orders as requested by patients on the At Your Request Meal Ticket
  • Proactively assists the department leadership in meal planning and preparation including researching costs of food items and assigning charges to catering menus
  • Consistently follows recipes correctly and complies to departmental standards
  • Ensures all foods are cooked, prepared and held at proper temperatures
  • Provides catering services throughout the hospital as requested
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety standards in food preparation areas
