Job Requirements

  • Must have experience in and knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of food
  • Must be able to perform yield testing to determine portion cost and to adjust ingredients in standardized recipes
  • Must have knowledge of procedures to order, issue and store food
  • Experience must have been gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity
  • Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods
  • Proof of eligibility must be provided by the closing date
  • Education cannot substitute for experience for this position
  • Foreign education must be equivalent to U.S. standards

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation and knowledge of food characteristics
  • Ability to plan and prepare entire meals on time
  • Skilled in performing yield testing and recipe adjustment
  • Knowledge of food ordering, issuing, and storage procedures
  • Experience gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club, or similar food activity
  • Ability to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods
  • Open to all applicants with preference given based on veteran and military spouse status

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established food preparation principles
  • Perform yield testing to determine portion costs and adjust ingredients in standardized recipes
  • Order, issue, and store food supplies according to established procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served on time
  • Assist in inventory management and reporting
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate food service operations
