Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in cooking, preferably in assisted living or healthcare
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for up to eight hours
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds
  • Knowledge of food safety standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and team
  • Physical stamina to work in a busy kitchen environment
  • Willingness to adhere to sanitation and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary certification or vocational training is a plus
  • Previous experience as a cook, preferably in assisted living or healthcare
  • Strong culinary skills focused on food preparation and presentation
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and elderly dietary requirements
  • Compassionate and patient with excellent communication skills
  • Effective team player capable of managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen environment conditions

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
  • Ensure meals are presented attractively and meet quality standards
  • Assist in planning weekly menus catering to residents' dietary needs and restrictions
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, maintain a clean and organized kitchen
  • Engage with residents respectfully, addressing their meal preferences and dietary concerns
  • Monitor food inventory levels and manage ordering of supplies
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and dietary staff to ensure smooth meal service
  • Complete required documentation such as food temperature logs and cleaning schedules
