Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Prior experience in related food service positions
  • Valid ServSafe or other approved food handler certification
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Frequent standing, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, and bending
  • Maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Required to know and follow safe work practices
  • Compliance with company policies related to job safety

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Prior experience in food service
  • Valid ServSafe or other approved food handler certification
  • High level of integrity and honesty
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and knives

Job Duties

  • Prepares or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems
  • Determines amount and type of food and supplies required using production data
  • Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation
  • Sets steam table
  • Serves or ensures proper serving of food for tray line or dining
  • Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health
  • Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques
  • Stores food properly and safely, marking date and rotation
  • Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to ensure excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food
  • Maintains daily production records
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times including dishwashing
  • Cleans and maintains kitchen equipment used in food preparation
  • Completes food temperature checks before serving
  • Completes requirements for in-service training, attendance, uniform and dress codes
  • Supports the mission, values, and vision of California Fish Grill
  • Cooperates with safety, quality assurance, and compliance programs
  • Works collaboratively with co-workers
  • Uses tactful communication
  • Promotes positive public relations with residents and family members
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
