Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • capable of standing for long periods
  • ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • good manual dexterity
  • strong auditory and visual skills
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience preferred but not required
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers
  • good communication and customer service skills
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to work standing for long periods and perform physical tasks

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas such as equipment and work surfaces to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and other equipment
  • ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, rotating stock and following food company labeling and dating procedures
  • monitor, cook and prepare foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently using methods such as tasting, smelling, or utilization of food thermometers
  • responsible for preparation of stations according to company guidelines
  • bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes with guidance from supervisor using various kitchen utensils and equipment
