Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of food preparation experience
  • Hospital food service experience preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow recipes
  • Basic computer and math knowledge
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Hot line service cook experience preferred
  • Sanitation certified within three months of hire
  • Able to access high and low areas
  • Exposure to hazardous materials and conditions
  • Able to meet time constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to perform cleaning tasks
  • Able to communicate with others
  • Able to safely use kitchen equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
  • Use lifting equipment or assistance for weights over 35 pounds

Job Duties

  • Responsible for ensuring that all hot and cold menu items are prepared according to department production and food safety standards
  • Notify appropriate individuals about any production compliance or process deviations and participate in offering solutions
  • Follow standardized recipes to maintain food quality and quantity across meals
  • Adhere to all food safety standards, documenting and addressing non-compliance in temperatures, labeling, and food rotation
  • Comply with production standards relating to scheduling, food readiness, cooling, and reheating
  • Perform duties successfully in all hot production areas including trayline cook, café cook, grill, and catering
  • Practice safety and sanitation techniques meeting departmental standards including proper use of chemicals and 'clean as you go' methods
