Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years formal culinary training or equivalent experience
  • experience in food preparation and cooking
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow standardized recipes
  • strong organizational skills
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen equipment
  • ability to work flexible hours including alternating shifts and weekends
  • commitment to reliable attendance and punctuality
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years formal culinary training program with degree or equivalent experience
  • food service background in upscale restaurants, private clubs, and/or hotels is preferred
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work under pressure and in a team environment
  • commitment to uphold confidentiality and professional standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare soups, stocks, and sauces
  • boil, braise, and roast items as per standardized recipes
  • prepare and serve sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, pureed, and baked items
  • complete appropriate paperwork and assist with kitchen sanitation
  • maintain the hot food line and service to residents
  • ensure proper food temperatures and portion sizes
  • prepare salads, desserts, and baked goods as per recipes
  • comply with sanitation standards and OBRA guidelines
  • monitor, teach, and discipline production and service staff
  • participate in pre-service meetings and meal planning
  • comply with dietary restrictions as per physicians' orders
  • follow safety regulations and HACCP guidelines
  • maintain safe and sanitary workstations
  • maintain personal hygiene and department dress code
  • attend in-service training and education sessions
  • perform assigned duties and responsibilities
  • identify safety hazards and initiate appropriate actions
  • comply with Cottage Grove Place's Code of Conduct
  • function under intense time pressure
  • collaborate effectively with coworkers
  • fulfill mandate schedules
  • maintain resident confidentiality
