Job Requirements
- Must complete background investigation with favorable results
- Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
- Must obtain a Food Handlers Certificate or complete food handlers training
- Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special situations
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. national residing in U.S. territory for at least 3 years
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- Must complete employment verification (E-Verify)
- Direct deposit required
- Must provide REAL ID or authorized identity documents for installation access
- May be subject to probationary period
- Must comply with bargaining unit conditions
- Must meet all eligibility, qualification, and background requirements prior to entrance on duty
Job Qualifications
- Experience in methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work safely and do simple arithmetic
- Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment
- Understanding characteristics of various foods and how to season and determine when foods are done
- Physically able to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Ability to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods
- Open to all applicants with various preference eligibilities considered
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food items that require little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers and vegetables
- Prepare hot cereals, broiled meats, and dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
- Make cold sandwich fillings and prepare convenience items like frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets
- Peel, chop, grind, slice, dice, puree, dredge, flour or bread ingredients and assemble menu items with accurate measurements
- Set up and replenish salad bar and portion food for distribution and meal service
- Cover, date, and store leftovers according to procedures
- Wash and clean kitchen equipment and mix ingredients according to recipes to minimize waste
- Perform other related duties as assigned
