Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience or training
  • food handler's permit as required by applicable state
  • ability to read and write in English
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • must obtain local, state, and federal food safety certifications including ServSafe within one year of hire
  • certifications must remain current
  • ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, taste, and smell regularly
  • ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • read and follow production worksheets and standardized recipes
  • take and record food temperatures
  • check deliveries of food and supplies
  • notify executive chef or sous chef of needed supplies
  • secure and rotate stock properly
  • serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning and meeting standards
  • taste food items prepared
  • comply with all standards and policies and report discrepancies
  • properly cover, date, and store food items
  • discard food items over 72 hours old from refrigerator
  • attend in-service and safety meetings
  • obtain food supplies from storeroom or refrigerators
  • maintain sanitary work area and clean kitchen equipment
  • use kitchen equipment safely and support training others
  • perform daily cleaning tasks and job analysis
  • contribute creative input for daily specials and special events
  • perform other related duties including special functions and banquets
