Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one or more years of food preparation experience in a directly related field
  • culinary background experience preferred
  • proficient in English, verbal and written
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • active Serve Safe certification or Food Handlers Certificate preferred
  • ability to understand and communicate written and verbal directions
  • regular attendance, reliability and punctuality is necessary
  • ability to work nights and weekends, upon request
  • must be able to work overtime as needed
  • may be responsible to work on an on-call basis
  • capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals that follow the menus and recipes
  • inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident
  • serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
  • prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus
  • prepare cold item foods, bakery, and salad items
  • cook hot foods as directed by supervisor(s)
  • ensure culinary practices, procedures and food safety are followed
  • adhere to food service timelines
  • prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse daily menu food options
  • serve meals to residents and guests as needed
  • assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and events
  • prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and Food Serve Safe regulations
  • ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner
  • assist with food prep for the upcoming meal and day
  • assist with the inventory and replenishment process for food and supplies
  • meet federal and state in-service requirements
