Job Requirements

  • No formal education required
  • One year of experience as a cook (institutional setting preferred)
  • Must obtain State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe certification within 30 days of hire
  • For Cook 2, three years of cooking experience
  • For Cook 2, must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification within six months
  • All new employees must produce a negative drug screen for illegal substances prior to employment
  • Casual employees receive a $2.00 per hour differential in lieu of benefits

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of cooking experience preferred
  • Previous experience in an institutional setting preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold meals for patients and residents on therapeutic diets
  • Prepare meals for cafeteria patrons and catered events
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld
  • Support overall efficiency and service quality of the Dietary department
  • Coordinate daily kitchen operations (Cook 2)
  • Maintain high standards of food preparation and sanitation (Cook 2)
  • Lead and oversee staff performance within the Dietary department (Cook 2)
