Job Requirements
- No formal education required
- One year of experience as a cook (institutional setting preferred)
- Must obtain State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe certification within 30 days of hire
- For Cook 2, three years of cooking experience
- For Cook 2, must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification within six months
- All new employees must produce a negative drug screen for illegal substances prior to employment
- Casual employees receive a $2.00 per hour differential in lieu of benefits
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year of cooking experience preferred
- Previous experience in an institutional setting preferred
- Must obtain State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe certification within 30 days of hire
- For Cook 2, must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification within six months of hire
Job Duties
- Prepare hot and cold meals for patients and residents on therapeutic diets
- Prepare meals for cafeteria patrons and catered events
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld
- Support overall efficiency and service quality of the Dietary department
- Coordinate daily kitchen operations (Cook 2)
- Maintain high standards of food preparation and sanitation (Cook 2)
- Lead and oversee staff performance within the Dietary department (Cook 2)
