Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or Bronze level ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate
  • must complete Defensive Driving training
  • must become certified in CPR and First Aid within three months of hire
  • must obtain and retain a Food Handler's certification card within 30 days of employment
  • able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • able to follow safety protocols and use protective clothing and equipment
  • valid New Mexico Class D Driver's License required
  • subject to pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening
  • subject to criminal background check
  • ability to work primarily in kitchen and dining settings with occasional outdoor work
  • willing to work irregular hours if needed

Job Qualifications

  • completion of Defensive Driving training within three months of hire

  • acquisition and retention of Food Handler's certification card within 30 days of employment
  • ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • skilled in operating kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, steamers, food processors, and knives
  • skilled in basic use of computers and office equipment
  • skilled in basic arithmetic operations
  • Spanish language skills are desirable

Job Duties

  • Prepares, seasons, cooks, portions, and serves meals and snacks to provide nutritionally balanced meals for patrons
  • preserves raw and prepared foods to prevent spoilage and contamination adhering to health guidelines
  • cleans, sanitizes, and maintains work area, kitchen equipment, utensils, lunchroom, dishes, kitchen and dining areas
  • plans and prepares daily menu
  • records food served and portioned to patrons daily
  • orders and conducts inventories of food and food supplies
  • manages supplies, equipment, and other kitchen resources
  • unloads and stocks bulk raw food products and supplies for senior meal sites
  • provides catering and sack lunches for special events and activities
