Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience in food production
- ServSafe Food Handler certification to be obtained within one year
- Knowledge of safe food handling, storage and sanitation practices
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, reach above shoulders, squat, bend, twist, kneel and climb throughout workday
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Willingness to work part-time hours including first shifts, rotating weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent knowledge
- Typically requires 3 years experience in food production in settings such as a hotel, restaurant or high-end institutional environment
- Ability to measure and scale ingredients
- Familiarity with diet restrictions and ability to adapt recipes accordingly
- Proficient time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Review production sheets and recipes to ensure quality and quantity needed for items to prepare
- Prepare food according to daily production report and established guidelines
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe
- Use kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers and tenderizers to prepare various food items
- Bake, roast, broil and steam meat, fish, vegetables and other foods
- Carve and slice meats and cheeses
- Garnish, display and serve food items according to standards and recipes
- Ensure proper storage, rotation of inventories and monitor food temperatures to maintain safe food handling
- Follow department standards for food handling, storage, sanitation and maintain temperature logs
- Monitor accurate portioning and promote food waste control by preparing in small batches
- Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific dietary needs and provide appropriate care as per departmental policies
