Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in food production
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification to be obtained within one year
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, storage and sanitation practices
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach above shoulders, squat, bend, twist, kneel and climb throughout workday
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Willingness to work part-time hours including first shifts, rotating weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent knowledge
  • Typically requires 3 years experience in food production in settings such as a hotel, restaurant or high-end institutional environment
  • Ability to measure and scale ingredients
  • Familiarity with diet restrictions and ability to adapt recipes accordingly
  • Proficient time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Review production sheets and recipes to ensure quality and quantity needed for items to prepare
  • Prepare food according to daily production report and established guidelines
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe
  • Use kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers and tenderizers to prepare various food items
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meat, fish, vegetables and other foods
  • Carve and slice meats and cheeses
  • Garnish, display and serve food items according to standards and recipes
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation of inventories and monitor food temperatures to maintain safe food handling
  • Follow department standards for food handling, storage, sanitation and maintain temperature logs
  • Monitor accurate portioning and promote food waste control by preparing in small batches
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific dietary needs and provide appropriate care as per departmental policies
