Job Requirements
- high school diploma or ged
- minimum of one year of cooking experience in a regulated environment
- or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- requires knowledge of the Privacy Act and its application
- requires first aid/cpr certificate within 180 days of hire
- requires food handlers' card within 30 days of hire
- knowledge of and sensitivity to native american culture
- may require driving
- candidates will be subject to criminal and character background checks and may be subject to fingerprinting

Job Duties
- prepares all meals and snacks for residents of both lodges
- cleans dining area, kitchen equipment and work areas
- loads and unloads dishwasher and returns equipment to its proper place during and after each meal preparation
- maintains standard of sanitation, health, safety, and nutrition
- organizes and maintains kitchen areas
- conducts periodic deep cleaning in common areas
- properly handles, stores, and labels leftover food items
- works in conjunction with the department supervisor to coordinate food procurement through outside food vendors
- organizes and maintains the pantry area and ensuring it is kept clean
- assists with shopping for food items
- responsible for all meal preparation, ensures all items needed for the daily menu are ready, and ensures any special arrangements necessary are made
- maintains recipe collection of frequent menu items and specialty items of interest
- maintains inventory of stock, and monitors expiration dates
- communicates any variations in menu or additional food items needed to supervisor
- reports any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisor for recommended course of action
- assists with recreational cooking activities that may be scheduled
- performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor
