Job Requirements

  • must complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • appointment subject to Tier 1 background investigation
  • must satisfactorily complete pre-employment physical
  • must obtain Food Handlers Certificate or complete food handlers training
  • must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • must be able to work shift schedules including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
  • must provide proof of eligibility by closing date
  • must be a U.S. citizen or non-U.S. national residing in U.S. territory for 3 or more consecutive years prior to employment
  • male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
  • must complete employment verification (E-Verify)
  • must successfully meet pre-employment requirements prior to entrance on duty

Job Qualifications

  • experience in methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club, or similar food activity
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment
  • understanding of characteristics of various foods
  • ability to season food and determine doneness
  • physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods
  • open to everyone including military spouse preference, veteran, spouse/widow/parent of veteran, and transition hiring preference

Job Duties

  • perform a full range of simple cooking tasks such as preparing pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables
  • prepare hot cereals, broiled meats, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
  • make cold sandwich fillings
  • prepare convenience items like frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets
  • peel, chop, grind, pare, cut, slice, dice, puree, dredge, flour, or bread ingredients
  • weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • set up and replenish salad bar
  • portion foods for meal distribution and service
  • cover, date, and store leftovers according to procedures
  • wash and clean kitchen equipment
  • mix ingredients following written recipes to ensure quality and minimize waste
  • perform other related duties as assigned
