Job Requirements
- must complete a background investigation with favorable results
- appointment subject to Tier 1 background investigation
- must satisfactorily complete pre-employment physical
- must obtain Food Handlers Certificate or complete food handlers training
- must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- must be able to work shift schedules including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
- must provide proof of eligibility by closing date
- must be a U.S. citizen or non-U.S. national residing in U.S. territory for 3 or more consecutive years prior to employment
- male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- must complete employment verification (E-Verify)
- must successfully meet pre-employment requirements prior to entrance on duty
- direct deposit required
- must be able to provide REAL ID or authorized identity documents for installation access
Job Qualifications
- experience in methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club, or similar food activity
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment
- understanding of characteristics of various foods
- ability to season food and determine doneness
- physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods
- open to everyone including military spouse preference, veteran, spouse/widow/parent of veteran, and transition hiring preference
Job Duties
- perform a full range of simple cooking tasks such as preparing pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables
- prepare hot cereals, broiled meats, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies
- make cold sandwich fillings
- prepare convenience items like frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets
- peel, chop, grind, pare, cut, slice, dice, puree, dredge, flour, or bread ingredients
- weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for menu items
- set up and replenish salad bar
- portion foods for meal distribution and service
- cover, date, and store leftovers according to procedures
- wash and clean kitchen equipment
- mix ingredients following written recipes to ensure quality and minimize waste
- perform other related duties as assigned
