Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age over 18 years
  • Background clearance as required by government regulations
  • Current food handlers permit
  • Minimum of two years experience cooking
  • Negative TB test results
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to speak, write, and read English
  • Ability to operate computer, necessary software programs including word, email, and excel
  • Ability to maintain professionalism with team members, residents, family members, and visitors
  • Ability to lift and push 50lbs
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the day and community
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Job Duties

  • Arrive to work on time and prepared for your shift
  • Prepare all food items in accordance with planned menus and recipes ensuring meals are appetizing, nutritional, and meet special dietary requests
  • Ensure all food is served at the correct temperature and charted accordingly
  • Ensure proper plate presentation
  • Consult with the Director of Dining Services on any menu changes or substitutions
  • Ensure food storage areas are clean and organized at all times
  • Prepare food following all governmental, sanitary, and dietitian regulations, reporting infractions immediately
  • Handle food orders promptly
  • Dispose of food and waste according to policies
  • Properly store, label, and date all leftovers
  • Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
  • Supervise servers and dishwashers
  • Prepare upcoming menu items by stocking and pulling ingredients as directed
  • Manage safe storage and efficient use of all kitchen inventory
  • Promote a positive and friendly team attitude
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
