Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers and mixers
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • manual dexterity and physical stamina
  • ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • good auditory and visual skills
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • availability for full-time work

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and other equipment
  • ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, tracking stock, rotating items and following labeling procedures
  • monitor, cook and prepare foods using tasting, smelling or thermometers to determine doneness
  • prepare stations according to company guidelines
  • bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods
  • season, weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables
  • carve, trim and prepare meats and seafood
  • bake breads, rolls, cakes and pastries
  • wash pots, pans, dishes and utensils
  • maintain records of food usage
  • assist with inventory
  • follow food specification amounts and assist in forecasting preparation needs
  • prepare and serve food to customers in a timely manner
  • support culinary staff at multiple stations as directed
  • communicate with supervisor regarding kitchen equipment and supply needs
  • adhere to company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform guidelines and productivity
  • provide excellent customer service by being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers
  • perform other duties as assigned
