Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of culinary experience preferred
  • ability to work flexible full-time or part-time schedules including weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen duties
  • must comply with company safety standards including wearing protective gloves and proper footwear
  • ability to follow federal, state and corporate food safety regulations
  • excellent personal hygiene and sanitation habits
  • reliable transportation to McLaren Greater Lansing location

Job Duties

  • prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • serves meals or prepares for delivery using correct portioning and ensures food is at the correct temperature and appealing
  • uses established ticket collection procedures and maintains service records
  • cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • stores or discards excess food according to safe food-handling procedures
  • keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and ensures proper food and supply storage
  • operates and maintains kitchen equipment
  • assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting
  • assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • reports maintenance needs, faulty equipment or accidents to supervisor
  • attends in-service and safety meetings
  • maintains good relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • ensures proper food presentation, portion control and serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • demonstrates personal commitment to safety
  • abides by company policies including use of protective gloves, oven mitts, slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques
  • performs other duties as assigned
