Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • available to work during the calendar school year
  • previous experience planning, preparing, and serving meals and snacks for groups of young children
  • prior experience with record keeping and file organization
  • some computer proficiency
  • current Food Handler's card
  • able to meet physical demands including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • able to communicate effectively with coworkers, students, families, and partners
  • able to obtain infant, child, adult first aid/CPR certification within 90 days
  • able to complete HIV/AIDS and blood-borne pathogens training within 90 days
  • able to pass Washington State background check and TB test
  • must have MMR vaccination or titer test
  • willing to work in an environment exposed to bodily fluids, infections, and odors

  • previous experience planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for young children
  • prior experience with record keeping and maintaining organized files
  • some computer skills
  • current Food Handler's card

Job Duties

  • Participate in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
  • plan menus to meet USDA/CACFP requirements
  • use and post menus approved by the Program Manager
  • incorporate cultural, ethnic, and dietary preferences and suggestions from parents in menu planning
  • plan and document appropriate food alternatives for children with allergies or preferences and communicate this to staff
  • order and purchase food, ingredients, materials, and supplies according to policies and budget
  • ensure kitchen safety and maintain sanitation and cleanliness
  • keep records according to CACFP requirements
  • menu planning and purchasing of supplies
  • prepare food and serve meals and snacks
  • attend to daily housekeeping and report maintenance issues
  • inventory stock regularly
  • maintain records required by OSPI/USDA/CACFP regulations
  • attend trainings as required
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
