Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, climb, push and pull
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Willingness to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working as a cook or in a similar role preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, and slicers
  • Good manual dexterity and physical stamina
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Basic inventory management skills
  • Food preparation and cooking skills

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas such as equipment and work surfaces to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and other equipment
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, rotating stock and following labeling and dating procedures
  • Monitor, cook and prepare foods to determine sufficiency using tasting, smelling or food thermometers
  • Prepare stations according to company guidelines
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes under supervision
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables for consumption
  • Carve, trim and prepare meats and seafood for service
  • Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment
  • Maintain records of food usage
  • Assist with inventory
  • Follow food specification amounts and assist in forecasting preparation needs
  • Prepare and serve food to customers in a timely manner
  • Support culinary staff at various stations
  • Communicate with supervisor about kitchen equipment and supply needs
  • Adhere to and promote safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform, and productivity standards
  • Provide excellent customer service including being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
