Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, climb, push and pull
- Good manual dexterity
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Willingness to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a cook or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, and slicers
- Good manual dexterity and physical stamina
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Basic inventory management skills
- Food preparation and cooking skills
Job Duties
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas such as equipment and work surfaces to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and other equipment
- Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, rotating stock and following labeling and dating procedures
- Monitor, cook and prepare foods to determine sufficiency using tasting, smelling or food thermometers
- Prepare stations according to company guidelines
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes under supervision
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables for consumption
- Carve, trim and prepare meats and seafood for service
- Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment
- Maintain records of food usage
- Assist with inventory
- Follow food specification amounts and assist in forecasting preparation needs
- Prepare and serve food to customers in a timely manner
- Support culinary staff at various stations
- Communicate with supervisor about kitchen equipment and supply needs
- Adhere to and promote safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform, and productivity standards
- Provide excellent customer service including being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
