Job Requirements

  • High school education preferred
  • Ability to read write speak English and follow written and oral directions
  • Technical or vocation training in Food Service or one year on-the-job training preferred
  • One year of experience cooking in a restaurant or similar food service establishment required

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including chopping portioning and storing
  • Understand and be knowledgeable in cooking techniques such as grilling sautéing searing frying broiling braising and stewing
  • Have prior experience with a hearth oven understanding how to maintain the temperature clean it properly and execute menu items daily
  • Demonstrate knife skills by portioning and preparing items as needed for recipes to ensure proper plate presentation
  • Read and understand set menus and recipes and follow them with minimal assistance from Kitchen Manager
  • Cook in an ala carte setting and keep up in a fast pace environment
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor or Kitchen Manager about ordering and station needs
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance including uniform and work station
  • Communicate professionally with residents and staff in an open kitchen setting
