- High school education preferred
- Ability to read write speak English and follow written and oral directions
- Technical or vocation training in Food Service or one year on-the-job training preferred
- One year of experience cooking in a restaurant or similar food service establishment required

Job Duties
- Prepare ingredients for cooking including chopping portioning and storing
- Understand and be knowledgeable in cooking techniques such as grilling sautéing searing frying broiling braising and stewing
- Have prior experience with a hearth oven understanding how to maintain the temperature clean it properly and execute menu items daily
- Demonstrate knife skills by portioning and preparing items as needed for recipes to ensure proper plate presentation
- Read and understand set menus and recipes and follow them with minimal assistance from Kitchen Manager
- Cook in an ala carte setting and keep up in a fast pace environment
- Communicate effectively with supervisor or Kitchen Manager about ordering and station needs
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance including uniform and work station
- Communicate professionally with residents and staff in an open kitchen setting
