Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Experience in a culinary environment preferred
- Ability to read and follow recipes and menu plans
- Ability to use proper food preparation and handling techniques
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Ability to adhere to infection control and safety procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and resident-centered care
- Ability to work flexible hours including beyond scheduled shifts
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Knowledge of FIFO food storage method.

Job Duties
- Read menus, recipes, and reviews with Food Service Director
- Prepare all necessary menu items in accordance with established standards
- Determine quantity of all food needed in meal preparation
- Follow recipes
- Use proper food preparation and handling techniques
- Prepare substitute items to meet resident's individual needs
- Serve meals using portions listed on menu
- Cover, date, and label leftovers and store properly
- Maintain cooking temperature logs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, department, and other regulations in food preparation
- Direct functions of one or more workers assisting in meal preparation and service
- Discard expired food
- Compile and maintain food records
- Take inventory of supplies and equipment
- Receive and store food supplies using FIFO method
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions of supplies and equipment
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and equipment
- Clean kitchen, dining room, and food storage areas
- Update dietary cards
- Assist in training new employees
- Use proper infection control and protective equipment
- Promote culture of safety
- Manage dietary personnel in absence of Food Service Director
- Foster respectful, team-oriented environment
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Maintain confidentiality and protect PHI (HIPAA)
- Work beyond scheduled shifts to meet patient needs.
