Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience preferred
- Ability to follow instructions precisely
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food preparation methods
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and varied shift times
- Physical ability to lift, carry or pull heavy objects
- Willingness to perform repetitive tasks and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen
Job Qualifications

- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely

Job Duties
- Reads menu to estimate food requirements and orders food from supplier or procures it from storage
- Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, boilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes, using kitchen utensils and equipment to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles
- Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Adds seasoning to food during mixing or cooking, according to personal judgment and experience
- Observes and tests food being cooked by tasting, smelling and piercing with a fork to ensure doneness
- Carves meat, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies, sauces, and garnishes servings to fulfill orders
- May supervise other cooks and kitchen employees
- May wash, peel, cut and shred vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use
- May butcher chickens, fish and shellfish
- May make bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry
- May price items on the menu
- Performs all other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor
