Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience in large quantity food preparation preferred
- Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
- Successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must possess ability to make independent decisions when necessary
- Must possess tact in dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable of food procedures
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Must maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, cleanliness, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, and safety
- Must possess ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them into food practices
- Must successfully complete background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening
Job Duties
- Inspect special diet trays to assure correct diet is served to residents
- Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports and submit to the Director of Food Services
- Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary
- Work with the facility’s dietitian and implement recommended changes as required
- Ensure all food procedures are followed according to established policies
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
- Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus
- Prepare food according to standardized recipes and special diet orders
