Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • two years experience in cooking preferred
  • ability to use food service equipment including fryers, choppers, and steamers
  • able to read, write, and speak English
  • must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 35 lbs regularly
  • able to stand, walk, kneel, sit or stoop for extended periods
  • able to work in hot and cold environments
  • able to communicate effectively with staff of all ages
  • physical presence on site is essential
  • hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to normal
  • able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • must adhere to DCH Health System policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • able to read, write, and understand English
  • two years experience as a cook preferred
  • ability to operate various food service equipment such as fryers, choppers, and steamers
  • ServSafe certification with minimum score of 75% preferred but not required
  • good communication skills
  • ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions

Job Duties

  • perform all duties of an assistant cook
  • promote and coordinate standard and special set up and layout of buffets and food stations as directed by manager or supervisor
  • manage requisitions for food and supplies and maintain menu and recipe for specific food stations
  • use and set up all equipment related to production of food and customer service including carving board and lamps, patio grills, butane burners, pizza oven
  • prepare and cook a wide variety of foods following standardized recipes
  • adjust recipes accurately using basic cooking principles and elementary math skills
  • maintain work area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition
  • promote customer service by completing assignments on schedule and within timelines
  • understand and follow oral and written directions
  • maintain, promote and enforce HACCP program including proper storage and temperature maintenance, time and task schedules and cleaning
  • perform duties of cook assistant, server and janitor as needed
  • reconcile food usage by tracking resources and systems
  • adhere to all DCH Health System and Nutritional Services policies and procedures
  • work variable shifts as required
