Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to two years related experience and/or training
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
- ability to write simple correspondence
- ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated instructions
- physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, hear frequently
- ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- adherence to safety and sanitation policies
- compliance with attendance and dress code policies
- willingness to participate in trainings and meetings

Job Duties
- Prepares all food according to the established menu
- ensures proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food following standardized recipes
- assumes responsibility for total kitchen operations and handles all situations according to established policy and procedures
- follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules
- cleans all food service equipment, kitchen, and food storage areas daily
- prepares suggestions for menu or recipe changes adhering to dietician guidelines
- oversees proper food handling to prevent contamination and reduce costs
- supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates
- responds promptly and courteously to resident and family member requests
- communicates effectively in a language each resident understands
- maintains a safe and secure work environment free of hazards
- practices good body mechanics and safe working habits
- observes and reports safety hazards immediately
- follows established emergency policies
- collaborates with associates and management in work assignments
- demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work and policies
- complies with attendance and call off policies
- participates in trainings, in-service, and meetings
- wears clean and appropriate dress per dress code
- refrains from discussing resident care with families and refers inquiries to supervisors
- complies with HIPAA regulations
- assists in training new dining services employees
- takes initiative and offers solutions
- undertakes special projects or assignments
- coordinates the work of culinary assistants
- performs other reasonable duties as assigned
