Job Requirements
- Training or experience sufficient to perform the work
- Serv Safe Manager Certification required within 90 days of hire
- ability to safely handle kitchen tools and equipment
- physical capacity for standing, bending, and lifting objects up to 40 pounds
- ability to work in temperature extremes
- willingness to wear proper uniform and personal protective equipment
- ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards in a kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience preferred
- Serv Safe Manager Certification preferred and required within 90 days of hire
- ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
- knowledge of kitchen safety and food handling procedures
- good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- ability to work in a team environment
- basic sanitation and cleaning skills
Job Duties
- Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for Veterans
- comply with food safety and hygiene standards
- operate kitchen equipment safely
- maintain cleanliness in kitchen and food preparation areas
- follow nutrition guidelines prescribed by supervisors
- assist with inventory and storage of food supplies
- wear appropriate protective clothing and hair covering during food preparation
