Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • assist other cooks and the chef by preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting food items
  • maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation
  • perform dishwashing, deep cleaning, and general equipment maintenance
  • manage inventory and communicate with the lead cook
  • receive and properly store food items including wrapping, labeling, and dating with expiration dates
  • apply advanced allergen knowledge to label and communicate accurately
  • set up and break down service areas, including cleaning procedures
  • follow recipes and standard preparation techniques including knife cuts and stock/soup making
  • control food costs by monitoring waste and prepping accordingly
  • maintain food quality and consistency
  • demonstrate teamwork and work at multiple locations on Reno and Verdi campuses
  • deliver catering services for special events
  • adhere to food handling and sanitation standards
  • promote a positive and professional workplace culture
