Job Requirements
- Previous culinary experience
- Ability to work 1st and 2nd shifts
- Ability to cook large quantities of food and deliver quality products
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Demonstrated professionalism and respect for residents
- Physically able to stand for extended periods
- Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in hot and humid environments
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Ability to recognize problems and communicate them to management
Job Qualifications
- ServSafe Certification
- Working knowledge of health and safety regulations in food preparation
- Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures according to state guidelines
- Knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
- Experienced in a wide range of food preparation skills
- Experience working with seniors and understanding their dietary needs
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
Job Duties
- Prepares food items on Food & Beverage Director's daily menu for Residents within scheduled time frame
- Keeps food service areas clean
- Monitors inventory
- Supervises servers in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director
- Maintains clean, neat, and safe work environment
- Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment including ovens, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, and freezers
- Assures that Resident diets are being followed
