Job Requirements
- No formal education required
- Minimum one year experience as a cook (Cook 1)
- Three years experience as a cook (Cook 2)
- Prior experience in an institutional setting preferred but not mandatory
- Must obtain State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe certification within 30 days
- Must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification within six months (Cook 2)
- Successful completion of a negative drug screen for illegal substances before employment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred (Cook 1 and Cook 2)
- One year experience as a cook in an institutional setting preferred (Cook 1)
- Three years experience as a cook preferred (Cook 2)
- Previous institutional kitchen experience preferred
- Ability to obtain State of Alaska Food Workers Card or Serve Safe certification within 30 days
- Ability to obtain Certified Food Protection Manager certification within six months (Cook 2)
Job Duties
- Prepare hot and cold meals according to therapeutic diets
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld
- Support cafeteria service and cater to special events
- Coordinate daily kitchen operations (Cook 2)
- Lead and support dietary staff performance (Cook 2)
- Assist supervisors in implementing safety standards and protocols (Cook 2)
- Maintain efficiency and high service quality in the kitchen
