Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of culinary experience
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and carry long distances
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Capacity to perform repetitive tasks including bending, lifting, chopping
  • Ability to wash dishes for extended durations
  • Willingness to work in small, sometimes loud spaces
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a Food Handler's card
  • Reliable punctual attendance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor daily
  • Manage time effectively and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Assist with food preparation and execution of menu items and Grab ‘N Go in a timely, accurate fashion
  • Maintain quality and consistency of all foods served
  • Keep inventory and communicate with Lead Cook
  • Assist in receiving items and storing them properly
  • Wrap, label, and date food with expiration dates
  • Use advanced allergen knowledge to label and communicate allergens
  • Set up and break down service including cleaning
  • Create specials once approved by leadership
  • Apply knife cuts and cooking techniques like brunoised, julienne, braise, and stock/soup making
  • Maintain clean, organized workstation
  • Promote accident prevention work habits
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Check quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Foster positive, respectful, professional interactions
  • Exhibit strong teamwork skills
  • Work at multiple locations on Reno and Verdi campuses
  • Deliver catering services supporting events
  • Follow punctual and reliable attendance policies
  • Monitor waste and control food cost by prepping accordingly
