Job Requirements

  • Completion of high school education or vocational school education
  • minimum of two years experience in quantity cookery including baking
  • current state-approved sanitation certificate
  • ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • perform basic arithmetic functions
  • ability to tolerate exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, noise, heat, and humidity
  • adequate physical strength and coordination to cook, clean, and receive supplies
  • safely lift and move 50 pounds
  • work from a step stool
  • stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • bend, reach, pull, and push
  • manipulate utensils and equipment repetitively
  • mobility between kitchen and dining areas
  • sensory ability to taste and smell
  • good vision with or without correction
  • practice good personal hygiene and wear clean uniforms
  • adhere to Dining Services sustainability initiatives

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of high school education or vocational school education
  • minimum of two years educational or commercial experience in quantity cookery including baking
  • current state-approved sanitation certificate
  • ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • basic arithmetic skills
  • culinary arts degree preferred
  • knowledge of food service profession standards and compliance with state and federal guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, garnish, and present all menu items according to Dining Services standards
  • assist in preparation and service of meals
  • monitor food temperature, flavor, and appearance
  • check deliveries and rotate inventory using first in, first out rules
  • clean and sanitize all Dining Services areas and equipment
  • maintain proper sanitation and recycling procedures
  • communicate professionally with staff and students
