Job Requirements
- Completion of high school education or vocational school education
- minimum of two years experience in quantity cookery including baking
- current state-approved sanitation certificate
- ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- perform basic arithmetic functions
- ability to tolerate exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, noise, heat, and humidity
- adequate physical strength and coordination to cook, clean, and receive supplies
- safely lift and move 50 pounds
- work from a step stool
- stand and walk for prolonged periods
- bend, reach, pull, and push
- manipulate utensils and equipment repetitively
- mobility between kitchen and dining areas
- sensory ability to taste and smell
- good vision with or without correction
- practice good personal hygiene and wear clean uniforms
- adhere to Dining Services sustainability initiatives
Job Qualifications
- Completion of high school education or vocational school education
- minimum of two years educational or commercial experience in quantity cookery including baking
- current state-approved sanitation certificate
- ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- basic arithmetic skills
- culinary arts degree preferred
- knowledge of food service profession standards and compliance with state and federal guidelines
Job Duties
- Prepare, cook, garnish, and present all menu items according to Dining Services standards
- assist in preparation and service of meals
- monitor food temperature, flavor, and appearance
- check deliveries and rotate inventory using first in, first out rules
- clean and sanitize all Dining Services areas and equipment
- maintain proper sanitation and recycling procedures
- communicate professionally with staff and students
