Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Graduation from a recognized culinary school or two years of food production experience
  • Ability to read, write, follow written or oral instructions, and be understood in English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job
  • State of California Food Handler certification must be obtained within three months of hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Graduation from a recognized culinary school or two years of food production experience
  • Ability to read, write, follow written or oral instructions, and be understood in English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job
  • Two years of college or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in large scale food production settings using industrial equipment preferred
  • Servsafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for patient food services, retail food services, and catering services
  • Stock, assemble, and serve portion-controlled hot and cold foods
  • Replenish and stock stations
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of foodservice areas and equipment
  • Establish and monitor food quality and temperature standards
  • Provide excellent customer, patient, and staff interactions
  • Work as part of a team to ensure timely and responsive food service
