Job Requirements

  • One year of experience in baking and pastry
  • Ability to work full-time schedule including varying days and evening hours
  • Ability to follow safety procedures including use of protective gloves and safety footwear
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for long periods
  • Ability to adhere to all applicable federal, state, and corporate food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience in baking and pastry
  • Experience in food preparation in a healthcare or institutional setting preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety standards including HACCP
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, ensuring food is at correct temperature, attractive and tasty
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service, responsible for records during service periods
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintains high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensures food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting
  • Assists in ordering and receiving of all food and supplies
  • Reports maintenance issues, faulty equipment or accidents to supervisor
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures
