Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • One year experience cooking a variety of foods in quantity with knowledge of seasoning and cooking times
  • One year experience demonstrating knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
  • Ability to lift up to seventy-five pounds and move three to four feet
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, and reach

  • At least 18 years of age
  • One year experience cooking a variety of foods in quantity with knowledge of seasoning and cooking times
  • One year experience demonstrating knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
  • Ability to lift up to seventy-five pounds and move three to four feet
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, and reach
  • Preferred three years experience preparing food in an institutional setting
  • Preferred two years experience providing leadership through instruction and example
  • Vocational training preferred
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Work with coworkers in team environment that promotes positive service qualities and respect of residents
  • Review production information with staff daily
  • Ensure and monitor correct quantities of production and portioning
  • Monitor and record production and waste data in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Prepare all food items in accordance with departmental standards
  • Ensure food retains nutritional value, attractive appearance, and palatability and is served at the appropriate temperature
  • Follow proper guidelines to meet special dietary needs
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the kitchen including washing dishes, cleaning floors and counters, and disinfecting necessary areas
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the dining room including changing tablecloths, vacuuming after meals, and cleaning the salad bar area
  • Ensure staff adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
  • Guide, assist, and instruct other staff members to ensure smooth and orderly completion of assignments
  • Plan and organize work schedule so food is prepared in a timely manner
  • Serve as designated person in charge in absence of manager(s)
  • Assist in the serving and delivery of meals when necessary
  • Prepare and serve special events and catering as needed
  • Assist in ordering and receiving food
  • Ensure that food is received and stored properly
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new employees
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and mandatory training
  • Complete competency evaluations for training as required by the state or as assigned
  • Follow all applicable state regulations
  • Perform other duties as directed
