Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- One year experience cooking a variety of foods in quantity with knowledge of seasoning and cooking times
- One year experience demonstrating knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
- Ability to lift up to seventy-five pounds and move three to four feet
- Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, and reach
Job Qualifications

- At least 18 years of age
- One year experience cooking a variety of foods in quantity with knowledge of seasoning and cooking times
- One year experience demonstrating knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
- Ability to lift up to seventy-five pounds and move three to four feet
- Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, and reach
- Preferred three years experience preparing food in an institutional setting
- Preferred two years experience providing leadership through instruction and example
- Vocational training preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
Job Duties
- Work with coworkers in team environment that promotes positive service qualities and respect of residents
- Review production information with staff daily
- Ensure and monitor correct quantities of production and portioning
- Monitor and record production and waste data in the absence of the Executive Chef
- Prepare all food items in accordance with departmental standards
- Ensure food retains nutritional value, attractive appearance, and palatability and is served at the appropriate temperature
- Follow proper guidelines to meet special dietary needs
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the kitchen including washing dishes, cleaning floors and counters, and disinfecting necessary areas
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the dining room including changing tablecloths, vacuuming after meals, and cleaning the salad bar area
- Ensure staff adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
- Guide, assist, and instruct other staff members to ensure smooth and orderly completion of assignments
- Plan and organize work schedule so food is prepared in a timely manner
- Serve as designated person in charge in absence of manager(s)
- Assist in the serving and delivery of meals when necessary
- Prepare and serve special events and catering as needed
- Assist in ordering and receiving food
- Ensure that food is received and stored properly
- Assist in the training and orientation of new employees
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and mandatory training
- Complete competency evaluations for training as required by the state or as assigned
- Follow all applicable state regulations
- Perform other duties as directed
