Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Two to three years food production experience in an institutional setting preferred
- Able to read and write English
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work in kitchen environment with exposure to heat and noise
- Ability to follow established recipes and food preparation procedures

Job Duties
- Reviews menus and production schedules regularly to determine types and quantities of food items to prepare
- Measures, weighs, and combines ingredients for quantitative preparation of hot and cold food items
- Cooks regular and diet menu items according to established procedures and recipes
- Ensures menu items are prepared timely and ready for assigned mealtimes
- Monitors consumption and alters food production levels to avoid shortages or surpluses
- Organizes and oversees work of Food Service Worker and Culinary Assistant
- Inspects food storage areas and ensures proper food storage to prevent spoilage
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, counters, utensils, and production areas
- Monitors food inventories and requisitions food from storeroom as necessary
