Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in large quantity food preparation
  • Valid ServSafe certification
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation practices
  • Reliable transportation to and from work site
  • Ability to work school year schedule
  • Mandatory proof of identification for employment eligibility
  • Successful completion of medical examination and background checks

Job Qualifications

  • Three years increasingly responsible experience in preparation of food in large quantities in commercial or catering environment

Job Duties

  • Perform large-quantity cooking in preparation of main dishes, vegetables, fruits and salads in a production kitchen environment
  • Assure compliance with safety and sanitation requirements
  • Determine appropriate quantity of food items for cooking
  • Assure compliance with food quality standards including appearance and nutritional requirements
  • Measure, weigh, and assemble ingredients
  • Calculate, adjust and extend recipes
  • Maintain kitchen facilities, equipment, and utensils in clean and sanitary condition
  • Prepare food items and utensils for distribution to school and contract sites
  • Load transport carts with specified food items
  • Monitor inventory levels of food, utensils and supplies
  • Order, receive, store and rotate food items
  • Conduct meal counts and inventories
  • Operate food service equipment such as slicers, ovens, mixers, and warmers
  • Communicate with personnel and outside agencies regarding issues or concerns
  • Maintain records related to food distribution, inventory and assigned activities
  • Perform related duties as assigned
